Qinran Hu received a B.S degree in electrical engineering from Chien-Shiung Wu College, Southeast University, Nanjing, China in 2010, an M.S. degree and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from The University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2013 and 2015, respectively. From 2015-2018, he worked as a postdoc at Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Science. In Oct. 2018, Qinran Hu joined the School of Electrical Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing, China.
Dr. Hu has abundant teaching experience. From 2010 to 2015, he mentored more than 40 undergraduate students for their senior design projects based on a smart home energy management testbed prototype designed by him at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Also, he published a paper about this experience on IEEE Trans. on Education titled “A smart home test bed for undergraduate education to bridge the curriculum gap from traditional power systems to modernized smart grids.” In 2014, he received student mentor award in from CURENT Power System Research Center. Also, he served as guest lecturer for the course: “Power System Optimization Theory and Technology” (in English) at Southeast University, China. In 2016, he was lab assistant for “PID control of a robot via the feedback from motion capture system” at Harvard. In 2017, he was the teaching fellow for the course “Energy and Climate: Vision for the Future” at Harvard (Score 4.2/5). Besides, he also served as a teaching assistant for many undergraduate and graduate courses, including power system economics, power system steady-state analysis, power system transient analysis, circuits, etc.
Qinran Hu has some industrial experience. He did internships at ABB Cooperate Research Center (CRC), Raleigh, NC in 2013 and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, TN in 2015.
